Ernestine Apartments (fka Currie Commons) was developed by Wellington Management as a high-density, 100% income-averaged affordable new construction project of 187 units in the Bassett Creek Valley area/Harrison Neighborhood of North Minneapolis.  Rent levels range from 30-80% AMI. The unit mix includes studios through three-bedroom units.

The site had been vacant since 2004, with significant petroleum and heavy metals contamination.  It was remediated and continues to utilize activate vapor mitigation in order to create a safe environment for residents.

Eighteen units have been designated as supportive housing for single adults and families with children.  Five are for High Priority Homeless and 13 are for People with Disabilities. Simpson Housing Services provides services for those residents. In addition, 40 project-based vouchers were awarded from Minneapolis Public Housing Authority.

Ernestine Apartments’ high density and mix of residential and commercial uses revitalizes a blighted and underutilized parcel – convenient to transit at the edge of downtown Minneapolis.
