Built in 1972, Little Earth of United Tribes (Little Earth) is the only American Indian/Native preference project-based Section 8 rental assistance community in the United States.  Located in the heart of Minneapolis, in the East Phillips neighborhood, Little Earth provides both highly affordable housing and culturally-appropriate services to all residents.

Through the comprehensive renovation of all 212 units, both townhomes and apartments that serve singles through large families, Little Earth will replace aging systems, improve landscaping and water management, and increase security through design options across the property.  In addition, 44 units will be set aside for High Priority Homeless and People with Disabilities, with services being provided by Little Earth of United Tribes Resident Services using a Housing First model. Though Little Earth has always served tenants with the greatest need, partnerships with Hennepin County will be formalized for these 44 households.

In addition to the supportive housing services, Little Earth offers programming that is holistic and culturally-relevant for residents at all stages of their lives, including a Youth Center, Elder Services, and an Urban Farm.
